Taxon

Any named unit in biological classification, such as family, genus, or species.

Binomial Nomenclature

The two-part scientific naming system for species: Genus + species epithet.

Occurrence Record

A documented observation or specimen of an organism at a specific place and time.

Endemic Species

A species that is native to and restricted to a specific geographic area.

Sampling Bias

A distortion in data caused by uneven collection effort across locations, seasons, or taxa.

Georeferencing

The process of assigning geographic coordinates to biological observations or specimen records.
